Our Legacy
A family business, built to last.
In 1946, Charles Ammirato opened the doors of Bergen Fire Equipment & Service on Johnson Avenue in Hackensack. It was a small shop with a big mission: give New Jersey families and businesses the straightforward fire protection they deserved.
His grandsons — Chris, John, and the late Richard Rodgers — grew up in the shop, working alongside Charles as apprentices. They learned the trade the way it should be learned: with their hands, one job at a time. When Charles stepped back, they took the reins.
Today, Bergen Fire is proudly run by the fourth generation of the family, joined by a team of skilled technicians who treat every call — from a single extinguisher recharge to a full suppression build-out — with the same care Charles gave his first customer.
